Environmental Consideration

Environmental Consideration for the G8 University Summit

Since the theme of the G8 University Summit is Global Sustainability and the Roles of Universities, the Secretariat plans to make its preparations and operations as environmentally friendly as possible. The specific measures described below will be taken as environmental considerations.

Making sessions as eco-friendly as possible

  • Use of recycled paper, soy ink, etc. for materials to be distributed
  • Use of environmentally friendly office equipment, stationery, etc.
  • Use of ecological ECO CIRCLE bags

Hokkaido University is making strenuous efforts to help absorb increasing amounts of atmospheric CO2 through the thinning and afforestation of its experimental forests. We will seek to offset CO2 emissions during the G8 University Summit through additional thinning of experimental forests (carbon offset).
